When should I get a pap smear?

The general guidelines for getting a Pap smear, also known as a Pap test, are as follows:

Age 21-29: Women should start getting Pap smears at age 21 and continue every three years if the results are normal.

Age 30-65: Women should have a Pap smear combined with an HPV (human papillomavirus) test every five years. Alternatively, a Pap smear alone can be done every three years.

Age 65 and older: Women who have had regular screenings with normal results may stop having Pap smears. However, those with a history of cervical cancer, a precancerous lesion, or a weakened immune system may need to continue screening.

It's important to follow your healthcare provider's recommendations based on your individual health needs and history.
