Douching is the process of cleaning a body cavity, such as the anus or vagina, with water or other fluids. It is often unnecessary in people who have natal vaginas and can disrupt the natural pH balance of the vagina, leading to infections. However, people who have undergone bottom surgery and have neo vaginas are advised to regularly douche in order to prevent infections. Frequency of douching depends on where the individual is in the post-operative healing process.
