(adj.) Queer is an umbrella term for identities that differ from heterosexual and/or cisgender societal norms. If you feel that your gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, or sexual identity does not fit within the bounds of heteronormativity, then you might identify as queer. Historically has been used as a slur for gay people, but has been reclaimed by many as a term of pride.
