What is vaginal discharge?

Vaginal discharge is a normal fluid experienced throughout the menstrual cycle, helping to keep the vagina clean. It varies in consistency and color depending on the cycle phase. Normal discharge is usually clear or whitish without odor or itching. Abnormal discharge may be yellow, green, or gray, and could indicate an infection if it has a strong odor or causes discomfort.
